COLUMBIA HILLS PETROGLYPHS |
Columbia Hills State Park is located in Washington, just across the Columbia River from The Dalles. The petroglyphs here were removed from a portion of the Columbia River Gorge that was being flooded as a result of a new dam, and brought to this site to be preserved. Many of the petroglyphs are located adjacent to the parking lot and can be viewed at any time, however others are secured behind a gate, and can only be seen during scheduled guided tours. I wasn't there during a time when tours were being given, so I will definitely need to return some time to see the ones I missed.
